The Experts Know Alarms

Owning an alarm company is now and always has been a recession proof business. When times are good, home and business owners can afford to be proactive by installing security systems, and when time are tough the need for an alarm system is obvious and prompted by a reaction to rising crime rates all around us.

The attraction to owning an alarm company is multifaceted. First is the opportunity to buy equipment at wholesale and resell at retail prices. Next is the money earned for installation and service, but the recurring revenues earned for monitoring the alarm systems, is the pot of gold that drives the industry.

There is such a large interest in the recurring revenue side of the business that it creates opportunity for anyone with business savvy and a well designed business plan the ability to enter the field. This is because the largest security companies in the world will brand your company and fund your growth in return for a portion of the paper you write for monitoring your clients.

With a well designed startup and management plan, the volume you can produce through these funding programs will realize profits that would make your head spin! The questions that need to be answered are many though, and most people don't know where to turn to get all the answers.

Who opens an Alarm Company

It's typical for someone who has been in the industry as an installer or salesman to see the abundance of business that the company they work for has (even though there is much competition in any given market), and say "I can do this myself!" The problem is that they only know one aspect of running an alarm firm and usually have little or no skills in all the remaining departments necessary to building a successful alarm business. If these industry insiders have a resource for educating themselves on all other aspects of an alarm company, they are often quite successful, because they already have an important skill set to be used in contributing to the quality of services offered.

There are many skills that are necessary to creating an alarm services company that can compete with the other alarm dealers in any given market. Here are just a few of the questions you should be asking yourself at the beginning stages of starting your alarm company:

Do I join an alarm dealership program or run an independent alarm company?

How will I set up administration for the daily operations of my alarm company?

How do I hire for all the necessary departments?

How do I train them and make them accountable to success?

What should I pay all the crucial positions?

How does the paperwork flow from sales, to alarm install, to administration?

What numbers should I target and expect?

How is my alarm sales department structured?

How is my alarm installation department structured?

How do all of these positions get managed productively?

What equipment should I sell and install?

What is normal industry pricing?

How do I find potential customers?

How do I efficiently convert these people into clients?

Who does the monitoring of these alarms?

In order to fully understand your options and be able to make decisions that will be both financially beneficial and easily assimilated, you should seek expert advice and training from a singular source if at all possible. This way the programs you learn are designed to interact with each other.
